Mid Weight UX Designer

We’re looking for a Mid weight UX Designer to join our team of thinkers and doers. We need a bright, talented person who is passionate about brilliant experiences, and knows how to make them happen.
The role
- You’ll work directly with our clients as part of a stellar team on a broad range of projects, shaping and executing Newt’s UX design projects
- You’ll manage a team of UX practitioners and Visual Designers, and you’ll have top-level support by the Account Lead on every project
- You’ll gain wide experience working with large corporates and small businesses, across Newt’s portfolio of clients and sectors
- You’ll work closely with other designers, creatives, researchers, business stakeholders and product owners to design best-in-class experiences
- You’ll play a key role in a highly collaborative team, working in fast-paced design environment in central London
Essential skills and qualifications
- Minimum 2 years relevant commercial experience in a contract or permanent UX design role
- Able to work either full-time (5 days/week) or part-time (2-3 days/ week)
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree or higher
- A flexible, creative and pragmatic approach to the challenges of designing real-world experiences
- In-depth knowledge of User Experience methodologies across the full spectrum of user-centred design activities: Strategy, Research and Design
- Able to facilitate client workshops confidently and take the lead in design discussions with clients
- A good communicator; verbal, visual, and written
- A quick learner; you’re happiest constantly discovering new things
- Keen to get involved in the bigger picture of product design and strategy
- Keen to manage and direct small teams, and take ownership of client projects
- Happy to get involved in preparing project briefs and pitch responses
- Happy to undertake project planning, estimates and resource scheduling
- Capable of taking responsibility for actively building the client relationship when the Account Director is not present
- Demonstrable experience of using prototyping tools (e.g. Axure) to visualise ideas, and create high-fidelity prototypes
- Working knowledge of other tools used in UX lifecycle, e.g. Sketch, Photoshop
- Familiar with the usual productivity software, MS Office etc
- Role is based in London, though occasional travel within the UK may be required
Nice to have
- Management consulting experience (ideally at a big 4 management consultancy)
- Agency experience (ideally at a UX or Service Design agency)
- Prior experience leading a small UX design or Service Design team (3-5 people) on project-based engagements
